Change your account name in Outlook

Tuesday, Apr 12, 2005

Effective April 12, 2005, Dogwood Productions clients who are experiencing difficulties sending or receiving mail may need to update the mail settings in their email application. This change has been made in order to better serve clients who have been inundated with spam and viruses. The new authentication system will better protect the servers from attacks and should help to lessen the number of unwelcome messages each user receives.

In order to update your mail client, please change all account names to be of the form user@domainname instead of simply user. For example, if your email address were "bob.jones@dwdgo.com", your previous username was simply "bob.jones". Your new username would be your complete email address, "bob.jones@dwdgo.com". You need to make this change both for your incoming (POP3) email server settings and for your outgoing (SMTP) server settings. For accounting mail, be sure that "server uses authentication" is checked.

If these changes do not work, or you have any other problems, please give us a call at 251-476-0858 and we'll be happy to work with you.
